Charlie Chance and the Curse of Cleopatra Published:

Charlie Chance and the Curse of Cleopatra is the latest online slot game to star the refreshingly unique character who originally appeared in Charle Chance in Hell to Pay. What makes this character so special is the fact that he was inspired by the early animated creations of Max Fleischer, which included Popeye and Betty Boop. In this most recent title, Charlie has been exploring the tombs of Ancient Egypt, and he’s somehow managed to awaken the mummy of Cleopatra. Now he has to try and escape before she gets revenge by placing a curse on him.
Format and Presentation
The style of Max Fleischer’s animation is famously distinctive, but its presentation evolved over time as colour cartoons gradually became more popular than their black-and-white predecessors. Likewise, the Charlie Chance games are evolving in a similar way. The first game, released in May 2020, was a predominantly black-and-white three-reel slot, but this latest game is a 6×6 grid slot, and while the setting is largely monochrome, the symbols on the grid have plenty of colours.
The setting is, of course, the tombs of Ancient Egypt. Lower-value symbols are engraved designs in slabs of coloured stone, while more ornate Egyptian icons will help you to land higher-value prizes. An amber scarab beetle is wild, and a Betty Boop-like Cleopatra character is a scatter.
You need to get a cluster of five or more symbols to win a prize in this game. After your prize has been awarded, the winning symbols will disappear, allowing new ones to fall into their place and possibly help you to win again. For every three cascades that you get in a row, a multiplier will increase by 1, up to a maximum of x3.
Charlie Chance and the Curse of Cleopatra has some very handy features that can be triggered at random as you play the main game. These are: Cleo’s Columns:
When this feature is triggered, two adjacent reels will be synchronized so that their symbols line up perfectly, making it easier to land a winning cluster or two. Charlie Mega Symbol:
A 2×2 Charlie Mega Symbol can appear on the initial spin or on a cascade spin when Cleo’s Columns are active. When he appears during cascades he sticks in place for the duration. After wins have been awarded, any low-value symbol touching him will be destroyed, and Charlie himself will transform into a Mega Wild. Flying Scarab Wilds:
When this feature is triggered, anything from five to eight Scarab Wilds will fly onto the grid, which once again makes it easier for you to land a winning cluster. Serpent’s Trail:
This feature can only be triggered on non-winning spins. A snake will slither around the grid. Some of the symbols it passes over will be destroyed, and others will be transformed into the same matching symbol.
Free Spins Feature
When you land three or more Cleopatra scatter symbols on the reels, you will trigger the main Free Spins feature. This will give you eight free spins, and if you have more than three scatters, you’ll get another four for each additional scatter.
Your active multiplier continues to be valid in the Free Spins round, and that multiplier will still increase by 1 for every three consecutive cascades you get. However, the multiplier doesn’t reset, and in this part of the game, it can go as high as x10.
Ancient Egypt in a Different Way
Charlotte Miliziano, who is Head of Games at Play’n GO
, took a moment to explain why Charlie Chance went to Ancient Egypt after previously being to Hell and back:
‘Players love our [Rich] Wilde and [Book of] Dead series, and we know that that’s in large part because of the lavish narratives that they provide. Not to mention the wealth and riches associated with the treasures of great pharaohs, they provide such cool gameplay both visually and audibly.
‘The style of the Charlie Chance games means that we’ve been able to explore Ancient Egypt in a different way. The black and white cartoon style is very different to the Dead series, for example, and I’m certain players will love this title too.’ Play Charlie Chance and the Curse of Cleopatra at LeoVegas Casino
